CUP

KCC Cavs 0:2 Wolves

Superb competitive game under the floodlights.

Scorers: Adam Boulanger and Rui Fernandes.

Very average & inconsistent performance from referee/linesmen.

See you in the second leg!

First fixtures for 2023 and unfortunately, we could not start off in winning ways as the clash of heavyweights in the Cup between KCC Cavaliers and Wanchai Wolves went to 2:0 to the visitors at half-time. The first goal was an unstoppable strike that hit the crossbar and went it and Wolves found their second as they punished us in the transition.

Second half we got our shape and tried to find a way into the game but were denied any goals from a solid resistance by Wolves defence. Sad but overall, a well-deserved result for them, good luck in the cup and hope you boys win it. See you in the second leg at the league!

Ref: 1/5 - linesman seemed disinterested in calling fouls they saw at the touch line and had some offside calls questionably for both teams, main referee was a stubborn fella

Wanchai Spartans 3 - 1 Soho Spartans

We hit the woodwork twice in a generally even first half with it goalless at the break. Took the lead 15 mins into the second half from a penalty and added a couple more before Soho scored a very well taken goal at the end.

Wanchai Spartans scorers: Oliver Baijings x2, Simon Galvin

Refs: 4/5

An even 1st half with good chances falling for both teams which should have been buried, though we went into the break at 0-0.

Wan Chai had the better of the 2nd half and deserved the win. We got a late consolation goal with a couple of minutes to go but the game was already done.

Scorer: Marc Beaton

Ref: 2/5, had a generally good game but we felt he had 2 poor calls, giving a corner instead of goal kick and then the pen which we felt was outside of the box, changed game going 0-1.

Eagles 1 - 2 Bants

Scorers: Robin Jordan, Jeff Leung

Deserved win for Bants in the end. Conceded a soft goal from one of our own goal kicks before scoring a header from a corner. We missed a penalty and their keeper made a point blank save to keep it 1-1 at half time. Second half, Jeff slotted home after getting in behind their defence. They hit the crossbar from a corner but we held on for the win.

Ref: 3/5

Even fair game where Bants took their chances and Eagles didn’t.

Scorer: George Fenwick

Ref 0/5. Offsides - shocking for both teams. Penalty (saved) given against us which was outside of the box, a pen then not given to us when their player has basically caught it in the box

Tropics 5 Revolution 4

Plenty of goals in this game as we too an early lead and took our chances to lead 4 - 1 at half time.

Revo missed a penalty after the break and we added a 5th and we’re in control. However, in the true spirit of a cup tie we conceded another penalty and 2 more goals to set up a nervy final few minutes. Well played Revolution.

Tropics scorers: Ruben Duk x 3,  Callum Bowness x 2

Ref: 4/5 pretty solid

Sluggish start from us saw us concede two early goals. Danny Yen scored a comeback goal with a worldie from 40 yards out, we then conceded a goal with the most ridiculous coming from an offside position non decision and then another just before half time with a fortunate rebound in the box for an easy tap in. HT 1-4. We got a penalty early in the 2nd half but the keeper made a save helped by being off his line when the pen was struck. Tropics then went down the other end and scored to make it 1-5. But the Revo don't give up - Simon Liu scored to start the second half comeback. He then lobbed the keeper only to see it hit the crossbar and back into the keepers’ hands. Liam Saville then scored a second penalty off the underside of the crossbar. With a minute or two to go, Danny Yen scored his second. But it was too late for us to get the equalizer.

Ref/lino... 2/5. Crucial non observations had big impact

Cors 3-2 Samurai Blue

Matthew Logan 2, George Moon

Rusty first half with the Christmas break showing. We went 3-1 up before Sam Blue scored near the end to make it a bit nervy.

Game wasn’t played in the greatest spirit with a former player of ours getting a red card for chucking the ball into the head of our player.

Ref 3/5- clear pens not given

Red card for Sam blue: Hassan Khan

Sb GOALS: Limbu rishi Kwan , Hicham haddar

Good and competitive game from both side

Red card for us but the refs miss a tackle from behind and then opponent player keep kicking and his provocative actions that lead to samurai player hit him with the ball

Should be red card for both player

Refs 3/5

HK Scottish Stags 6 KCC Royals 0.

Some fine play and finishing by the Stags.

Good luck in the next round…

Played in a good spirit.

Ref: 5/5

Shooters 3 - Legal head 1

Shooters scorer:

Yohei Nakao, Jun Yasunaga, Dai Takano

Comments:

Both teams started playing with concentration.  The Shooters got lucky with a goal just before the end of the first half.  In the second half, the match was evenly matched, but Shooters managed to score goals from small passes and attacks from the left side.  LH also returned 1 goals, but the game ended there.

Good game LH and good luck on the rest of the season.

Ref:

4/5. Focused and made well balanced judgments

Barbarians FC 2- Krauts 1

Ouro Bodi Souhourou, John Cove

Ref: 4/5

Dong Feng 4-4 Victoria Park FC (Pen 5-4)

Scorers: LIU Shengduo x 3, CHAU Cheuk Him

Scoreline: 1-0, 1-1, 2-1, 3-1, 3-2, 3-3, 3-4, 4-4! Eventually we won in penalty shootout 5 to 4.

PLATE

OSM 4-1 Stray Dogs

OSM enjoyed the start of 2023 with a well-earned victory progressing us in the Plate.  The first half was an even affair, with Stray Dogs edging possession but neither team doing enough when moments presented themselves.  The only breakthrough of the half came from an OSM mistake on the half way line putting the SD striker through on goal.  He finished well by chopping inside and slotting in the near post.

Frustrated at putting ourselves on the backfoot, we came out strong in the second half and within 10mins we were 2-1 up.  Firstly, James Chambers took advantage of a bouncing ball that wasn't headed away; he swiveled and fired hard and low into the bottom corner with his left foot from just inside the box.  Secondly, Chambers turned provider as this time he hooked a ball over for fellow striker John McLaughlin to loop over the keeper and it slowly...slowly rolled into the net.  Midway through the second half we had our third.  Our tireless center midfielder and MotM Liam Kirrane ran past the strikers and squared for McLaughlin to get his second from dead-centre and a few yards out.  SD made some attacks to try and tip the game back in their favour, but either overhit the passes for our keeper to collect or shot over.  With the last kick of the match, Josh Carubia ran through to slot from Chambers' second assist.

Enjoyable game and good to play SD again after getting to know them last season in D2.

Goalscorers: James Chambers, John McLaughlin & Josh Carubia.

Ref: 4/5.Scorer: Matthew Wong

Stray Dogs started off with the upper hand as they capitalized on a miscue to go ahead in the first half.

The second half was dominated by Old Speckled Men as they two capitalized on consecutive Stray Dogs mistakes.

A deserved win, good luck in the next round.

Goodfellas 1-1 San Ps (4-3 on pens to GF)

Scorer Alex Brutus

We led most of the game but San Ps didn’t give up and managed to snatch a dramatic last min equaliser in full time.

Pens had a few twists and turns but we managed to see it out.

Ref ok 3/5 - Lino  I should be nice as it’s a new year

Goodfellas 1 San Ps 1, Goodfellas won on pens 4-3, San Ps scorer Ross D'Arcy, refs 3/5. Dead even game with nothing separating the 2 sides, we equalized right before the final whistle but couldn't hold our nerves for the pens shootout. All in all a great game

JLeaguers 2-2 Laguna City (Penalty: 4-3)

JL had slow start after long holiday season and woke up after Laguna City’s early goal from decent long shot. JL had an equaliser and ended with 1-1 at half. Both scored one more in 2nd half and JL found luck in penalty.

Scorer: Daichi Okamoto, Shunsuke Nishimura

Ref: 5/5 overall fair whistles

Unlucky game for Laguna City, had many chances but couldn’t capatilze on them. Laguna scored an early goal but J Leaguers took advantage of mistakes from the defence to go up 2-1, a late goal from Laguna took the game to pens and 2 poor penalties from Laguna gave J leaguers the win.

Goal scorers:

Jaarz Limbu

BOC 1 - 0 V United

Harsha Matura

Was a tight game and BOCs goal coming near end of first half when a powerful shot was initially saved by the goalie but the ball still managed to squirm under the goalie to roll slowly over the line with the goalie desperately trying to stop it. Clean game with both teams hitting the cross bar. Ref 3/5- easy game for the ref.

Thanks for the game, see you again when we face you in the league

Waterloo Warriors 2-1 Comrade

Warriors started the game strong scoring 2 early goals. Comrade was able to get a goal in second half.

Scorers: Rajhe Gordon x2 goals

See you soon, Comrade

Newteam 6- hk vikings 0

We pressed well and our strikers had their momentum. It was a nice game with a lot of fair play.  thanks vikings and see you next week.

Goals : Jonathan d’Edwards x3,  Arthur Roiret x1, Rachid  Jarray x1, Dylan Chow x1

Perhaps a little higher score than deserved. The zero well deserved, as we had nothing.

Good luck New Team, and see you on Saturday.

Ref 4/5. No major mistakes in a fair played game.
